As you may aware by now the planning
applications for constructing the skatepark in Inverleith
Park were considered at the councils’ planning
committee on Wednesday16th February.
In spite of the overwhelming support for the pavilion
site, the committee did not make a final decision,
instead both applications were referred to a public
hearing. We understand that the hearing will take
place within the next four weeks, meanwhile councillors
from the planning committee will also make a site
visit to Inverleith Park to see the proposed sites
for themselves.
At the actual hearing, representatives from groups
supporting the proposals and those opposing them will
be given the opportunity to put forward their case
and then we believe a final decision WILL be made
by the planning committee.
As stated previously, if the decision is in favour
of either site (or both!) this will have to be passed
on to the Scottish Executive who ultimately have the
final say. No further representation by the public
or anyone can be made to the executive, details of
all previous representations etc. will be sent and
their final decision will be made based on all available
information.
The executive have 28 days to make their decision,
although an extension can be requested. As soon as
we receive any further information we post it up.
