As most people will be aware there
are currently two planning applications in to build
the skatepark in Inverleith Park. One above the pond
on the former pitch & putt course and the other
at the pavilion site. No decisions have been made
on either application yet, as ESP understands that
both applications will be submitted to the planning
committee sometime this month. Council officials,
at the public meeting in November, intimated that
the planning committee would consider the applications
in January. The planning department have now informed
us that a delay in submitting the planning applications
to committee has occurred because of the volume of
letters of support and objections received in relation
to the second application for the pavilion site. These
all had to be responded to individually by the planning
department who indicated that they would have finished
this by the end of January. It is now anticipated
that, as stated above, the planning committee will
consider both applications in February.
What then?
As was also intimated at the public meeting, if the
council approves one or both applications, their recommendation
will have to go to the Scottish Executive for the
final decision to be made, because in this instance
it is the council applying to itself for planning
permission. The timescale given for the Scottish Executive’s
decision making process has been given as approximately
four weeks. When we receive more news on any of the
above we will post it on here as soon as…
