Planning Application
for Edinburgh Skatepark Submitted...
The planning application
for Edinburgh's 'central' skatepark in Inverleith
Park was submitted for planning permission on Friday
30th July. The plans below show details of the skatepark,
developed by ESP in conjunction with Clive Bowman.
The park measures 30m x 70m and a budget of £513,000
has been agreed for it's construction.

There have, as anticipated,
been intimations from various groups around Inverleith
& Stockbridge of their intentions to object to
the proposals through the planning process. A 'contingency'
plan is however also currently being developed for
a second site in Inverleith Park, opposite the entrance
to the botanics, following the recommendation made
by a council scrutiny panel on 2nd August and agreed
by the council executive on 10th August, resulting
from objections to the council about the proposed
site from Friends of Inverleith Park and local councillors.
As intimated in the in the last posting, delays would
arise from objections etc. it's not clear yet what
impact objections to the planning application will
have on the 'timetable' for construction. We will
keep you updated on developments as they happen and
would urge you to continue your support for the skatepark
by writing to your local councillor and the local
press.
